Questions
FAQ
Does LabDesk need the internet?
No. Registering patients, entering results, reports, payments and analytics all work offline. The internet is only used when you email a report, open WhatsApp Web, or when LabDesk looks for an update.
Which Windows does it run on?
Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit.
Can I use it next to my current lab software?
Yes. LabDesk keeps its own data, so you can run it beside your current software while you compare, and switch when you are ready.
Can two computers share one LabDesk?
Not at the moment. LabDesk is built for one PC at one lab desk. Make regular backups so the data is safe if that PC fails.
Are the reference ranges correct for my lab?
The 288 standard tests are a starting point, and every test, unit and range can be edited. Your pathologist should check them for your lab and methods before reports go out. Ranges differ between labs and methods, and the responsibility for a report stays with the lab.
Can I use my own letterhead and signature?
Yes. Upload your letterhead image and the doctor's signature in Settings, set the blank space your paper needs, and print a test page. You can also print on plain paper with the letterhead switched on.
What happens if the computer fails?
Restore the latest backup on a new PC from the very first screen. LabDesk backs up once a day while it is open, so keep the backup folder on a USB drive or another disk.
What happens when a new version comes out?
LabDesk checks when it starts, downloads the update quietly and installs it for you. Your data is backed up first and is never changed by an update. You can turn automatic checks off in Settings > About.
Can patients get their reports by email or WhatsApp?
Yes, if you turn it on. EMAIL sends the PDF from your lab's address. WHATSAPP opens the patient's chat in WhatsApp Web, and with the LabDesk Bridge extension the PDF is attached for you. You always press Send yourself.
I forgot the Admin password. What now?
On the sign-in screen press "Forgot your password?" and use the recovery code that was shown when LabDesk was first set up.
When can I download it?
The public download is coming soon. LabDesk is being tested in a working lab now.
