What is collected, and what is not
Last updated 2 November 2026.
The short version
LabDesk does not collect your data. Patient records, results, prices and payments stay on the computer where LabDesk is installed. The LabDesk Bridge extension collects nothing at all.
The LabDesk program
- Stored on your computer only: patients, orders, results, payments, users, settings and backups. LabDesk has no account system and no server of its own, so none of this is sent to me.
- Update check: when LabDesk starts, it asks GitHub for the latest version number and downloads a newer installer if one exists. GitHub can see the request, as with any download. You can turn this off in Settings > About.
- Email: off until your Admin turns it on. When you press EMAIL, the report is sent through the mail server you chose (for example Proton Mail, Gmail or Outlook). That provider and the patient's provider handle the message under their own policies. The mail password is stored on your computer and is not included in backups.
- WhatsApp: LabDesk opens WhatsApp Web in your browser. The message and file are handled by WhatsApp under its own policy. You press Send.
- Crash reports: if the program crashes, it can open an email draft to me. Patient names and numbers are removed. Nothing is sent unless you press send in your email program.
The LabDesk Bridge browser extension
It collects, stores and sends no personal data. It talks only to LabDesk on the same computer (127.0.0.1) to fetch one report that you asked to share, and attaches it in WhatsApp Web. It does not read messages or contacts, and has no analytics. You press Send yourself.
This website
- It uses no cookies, no advertising and no tracking scripts.
- It is hosted on Cloudflare, which keeps ordinary technical logs (such as IP address and page requested) to run and protect the service, under Cloudflare's own policy.
- The changelog page asks GitHub for the list of releases from your browser.
- If you write to me by email or Instagram, I see what you send and your address or handle, and I use it only to reply.
Patients' data in a lab
The lab that uses LabDesk is the one that holds and is responsible for its patients' data. I do not have access to it.
